Reading from The Book of Etta
I’m a Bay Area science fiction author and feminist essayist. My debut novel, The Book of the Unnamed Midwife, won the Philip K. Dick Award and was listed as a recommended work by the James A. Tiptree Award Committee. The book was also included in the 100 Best Books of the Year list by Publisher’s Weekly, and the same list issued by Amazon. I have published essays and short fiction with McSweeney’s, The Establishment, Everyday Feminism, Tor.com, LitHub, Motherboard, Compelling Science Fiction, and many other outlets. I’m part of the writer’s room for The Mess, an East Bay sketch comedy group. My second novel, The Book of Etta, will be released by 47North just before the JoCo Cruise, and I'd like to do a reading from my new book for my fellow floating nerds.

A JoCo Magic Show
An entertaining magic show, mostly for adults, but if some children show up, I'll have some things for them as well. I just want to make sure it's clear that based on the poll results that this will be geared mostly towards adults so children (under age 9) might (probably will) get bored.

Sirai: An Accessible, Strategic, Political LARP
The sci-fi city of Sirai is divided between many factions, each with their own agenda to seize or keep power. Maybe you'll be the government or the rebels, the church or heretics, or even the meddling offworlders just looking to make money. Whatever the allegiance, each character has ties to other factions and personal motivations that ensure tensions will boil over. An accessible, straightforward LARP with a twist: a map players walk across and move units around on.
