Want to enjoy playing great familiar tunes with other SeaMonkeys? Bring the chords or chart for a simple classic or standard song you think most people already know, or pick one from the host's songbook, or just sing along. We'll quickly break down each song into arrangements, review the rhythm chords, and take turns playing lead, fills or solo breaks. Guitar, uke, mando, bass, keys, rhythm, voice, harmonica, ocarina, kazoo, whatever: all welcome.
Bring your instruments and voices and join us for a session of Sea Shanty singing and the "old trad" Irish music. Lyrics and music can be provided on a limited basis. Those who already know sea shanties, sailing-themed drinking songs, and/or Irish music encouraged to lead a song or two (or 3 or 4). Format: take turns leading a tune (instrumental or vocal). If you want to lead a sea shanty or drinking song, please pick one with an easy chorus to follow so everyone can sing along. Irish music tempo depends on who shows up.
James Ernest is a famous game inventor and loves to talk about himself. Give him the chance to do that, in this random-sized event. If we only have a few people, we'll play a game together (probably something you've never seen before). If we have more people, we can ask James questions about his life: Cheapass Games, game design in general, working with Pat Rothfuss, being a professional juggler.
Game designer, author, and rabble-rouser Mike Selinker talks about whatever you're willing to buy him drinks to talk about. If you like puzzles, games like Betrayal at House on the Hill and the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, or political rabble-rousing, Mike will tell you dumb stories about it.
Bring instruments and voices and let's sing songs together! Meet other musicians, try out new material, sing and play along or just listen. No pressure!
